Three Ways Ricky Hatton Can Defeat Manny Pacquiao on May 2

Ladies and gentleman the whole world is buzzing about the May 2nd Super Mega fight between UK superstar Ricky Hatton and the sport's number one pound for pound boxer in the world Manny Pacquiao.

Let's take a serious deeper look at these two fighters and determine a wise prediction on the outcome. First off the vast majority of journalists and the media is automatically declaring Pacquiao to be the winner of this bout, but we must remember Ricky Hatton is definitely no slouch and he will provide one hell of a fight and a war.

In Hatton's last fight with Paul Malignaggi Ricky adapted a new style of fighting which is more defense minded and more counter punching based than his constant pressure come forward one dimensional style that won over so many fans. This is obviously due to his new trainer Floyd Mayweather Senior.

That is all fine and dandy if you fight like this against Malignaggi who has a whopping total of five KO's on his record, but we are talking bout the pound for pound monster known as the Pac Man here.

So with that being said here are three ways Ricky Hatton may be able to defeat the Pac Man.

1. Have the fight in the UK:

By having the fight in the UK Ricky can get away with murder and any type of foul is all fair game and his preferred style of wrestling his way to a win rather than clean boxing(as in the Kosta Tszyu fight) is definitely accepted and encouraged back in the UK.

But seeing that this fight is taking place in Las Vegas Ricky Hatton can not rely on this plan.

2. Hope Manny Pacquiao is not taking this fight seriously:

In the past Manny Pacquiao has not been the most focused on his fights and in training camp for certain obvious fights.

Rumors of distractions from legal matters, management burdens, tv/film roles, business deals, politics, etc distracted the pound for pound champion from giving his usual 300 percent in past training camps and in turn produced a less than full throttle performance by the Pac Man.

Even Golden Boy Partner Bernard Hopkins, who usually biasedly backs up the Golden Boy fighter blindly, went on ESPN and stated that Manny Pacquiao is the number one pound for pound fighter and right now the only person who can beat Manny Pacquiao is Manny Pacquiao.

Meaning if Pacquiao does not train as hard as he is supposed to or if he lets himself get distracted that is the only way Manny will lose right now for he is in his prime.

With reports of Manny destroying his larger heavier sparring partners, knocking them down, bruising them up and deeply cutting them even with protective head gear on seems to point to the fact that Manny is taking this fight rather seriously.

Manny said it best himself, when you train hard then the fight is easy. So if Manny is slicing up his sparring partners with protective gear on imagine what he'll do to the pasty face of the Hitman?

3. Get a referee who allows holding, clinching, and wrestling:

Hatton was more than unhappy that Joe Cortez did not allow him to wrestle, hold, clinch against Floyd Mayweather Jr and it has been said that he even blames Cortez for the loss.

If Ricky gets a referee who allows him to hold, clinch, and wrestle his way to a win, then maybe just maybe he might be able to give the drunk Brits something to sing about May 2.

So if he's able to acquire someone like Steve Smoger who just lets his fighters beat the crap out of each other and pretty much only intervenes if one pulls out a glock, even someone like Tony Wickes who allows wars to go on and on despite numerous vicious knockdowns may very well increase Hatton's chances significantly.

But if Freddie Roach has it his way and obtains Joe Cortez to ref the fight then say good night to the Hitman. Even another strict referee like Jay Nady who does not allow any horse play and rips arms apart that have been clinching for more than three seconds would end any chance of Ricky to win.

So we have to wait until two weeks before May 2 to find out who is going to be the referee for this fight and that will tell us how much of a chance Hatton may have come May 2.

Of course there are several other factors and ways that Ricky may be able to win this fight, but poisoning Pacquiao or loading his gloves Magarito Plaster of Paris style are not legal options Ricky can plan to do.

KING J's Official Prediction:

First off this fight has fight of the year written all over it! I smell a stoppage and it looks like most likely this fight will not see the score cards. I predicted that Pacquiao will cut up Hatton's face to a TKO stoppage. I still will keep this prediction and move it up to a mid round stoppage by either cuts or a NO MAS part II on the stool.

Freddie Roach says it will end in Round Three, he has been correct several times in the past so I will throw a Benjiman on that round as well if the odds look good just in case.
