IS HATTON OVERLOOKING THE PACMAN FOR FLOYD?

RICKY OBSESSED WITH FLOYD, NOT PAC!

New York, NY- Ricky Hatton (45-1 32 KOs) will face current ‘pound for pound’ champion Manny Pacquiao in May, a huge fight for the junior welterweight (140 lbs) division and the sport. Both fighters have an equally large fan base, which should equate to a high profile fight and a financial success for everybody involved. But for Hatton who has only one loss in his career, a 2007 stoppage at the hands of former P4P king, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0 25 KOs) this fight appears to be part of an overall plan to secure a rematch with the only man to defeat him. Although Hatton doesn’t appear to be totally overlooking Pacquiao, it is likely that Hatton's motivation to win this fight is the prospect of coaxing Mayweather to come out of retirement and face him again.

HITMAN LEFT RING “HAUNTED” BY LOSS

If we look at the series of events that have taken place since the formerly undefeated Hatton stepped in the ring with Mayweather, there is no doubt the Brit has become fixated with vindication. Rewind to round eight of his fight with Mayweather. Hatton was hit with several combinations, which had him reeling back and forth and resembling a piñata. In the ninth Hatton did not land a single blow. And in the 10th Hatton was hit with a check hook that had him hitting his head on the ring post on his way to the canvas. He was knocked down again, a delayed reaction to a left hook that persuaded his corner to simultaneously throw in the town as he collapsed on his back. Most would agree that after that kind of beating there would be no reason for a rematch.

MEET THE “WHINING” HITMAN

But almost immediately after the fight Hatton and his camp were complaining that referee Joe Cortez allowed Mayweather to use alleged roughhouse tactics and excessively hold. Of course in Hatton’s mind, these factors took him out of his game plan and were the sole cause of his loss. After it was realized that complaints about the referee were erroneous Hatton began to reportedly text message Mayweather Jr. discussing to possibility of a rematch. And when that didn’t yield immediate results, Hatton continued on speaking about the possibility of a rematch with everyone in the press as he still does today.

HATTON ALIGNS WITH SR. TO TORMENT JR.

Billy Graham, the man that formerly trained Hatton was ailing and could no longer keep up the pace with Hatton in the gym. So whom does Hatton decide to hire as his new trainer? None other than Floyd Mayweather Sr.! At this point the fixation with “Money” Mayweather has reached a new high. And while Sr. appears to have had a positive effect on Hatton, he certainly hasn't improved enough to compete with Mayweather any better than the first match. Couple that with the fact that Mayweather has never shown serious interest in fighting Hatton again and you might conclude that Hatton’s obsession is making him delusional!
WILL PAC RELIEVE RICKY OF OBSESSION?

As Hatton prepares for a fight with Pacquiao, he still thinks Mayweather Jr. 24-7! He recently said he would rather have Mayweather knock him out again, than to not have another shot. The fact that he is even mentioning Mayweather before the biggest fight of his career is unbelievable! Hatton believes that at junior welterweight he will beat Pacquiao, but he also believed he would beat Mayweather. Either way, he should stay focused on his next opponent because Pacman might just give Hatton another reason to obsess over a rematch.
