Arum: Manny saves his best for the Hitman
MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao impressed boxing pundits when he annihilated Oscar De La Hoya in eight rounds in December last year.
Hall-of-Fame promoter and Top Rank boss Bob Arum believes, though, that Pacquiao’s ultimate performance will come on May 2 when he fights the “Hitman” Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas.
“You will see the best of Manny Pacquiao against Ricky Hatton,” Arum said in a television interview shortly after he arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport yesterday.
The 140 lb light welterweight class is the “best weight” for the Filipino icon, he said.
Arum will grace “The Flash and the Furious” fight card at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday featuring IBO/IBF flyweight champion Nonito Donaire, who is under contract with Top Rank.
Donaire will face Mexican-American Raul Martinez in his defense of the title he won over Vic Darchinyan two years ago.
