Pacquiao Focuses on Hatton But Shows Interest in Other Fighters

Hard at work in preparations for his May 2 showdown with junior welterweight champ Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao knows he has a tough fight ahead of him but he acknowledges that it's what he lives for. "Boxing is my life. I love the competition and facing off against great fighters," Pacquiao said earlier this week. "This fight is very important to me and I'm training hard to make sure I win." Ever since his loss to Erik Morales in their first fight, Pacquiao has been on a tear, not only stopping Morales twice in subsequent fights but also beating Barrera a second time, Marquez a second time and handing Oscar De La Hoya his most convincing loss, easing him into retirement.

This however will be Pacquiao's first fight at 140-pounds even though he fought Oscar at 147 and the stakes are certainly high. "We've had a great training camp. We're preparing ourselves very well and we know that Hatton is a strong fighter," said Manny.

Still the thought of Manny remaining at 140 or even 147 has a lot of boxing experts foaming at the mouth. Not one to overlook his opponent, Manny has still opened up about other possible fights in the near future.

"First is Hatton, and that's what I'm concentrating on but definitely, there's other fighters that interest me such as Julio Cesar Chavez, Edwin Valero, Miguel Cotto – not to mention a third fight with Marquez or a showdown with Mosley, but I'll say it again, I'm only thinking about Hatton right now," proclaimed Pacman.

Either of those fights are mouthwatering to say the least but until the night of May 2, it's only the Hitman that matters in Pacquiao's eyes and rightfully so. Needless to say, we can only hope that at least one of those fights comes to pass in 2009.
