Pacman to face ‘nightmare of a fighter’ in Hatton

For him to win over a brusque Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao would have to follow Freddie Roach’s instructions to the letter.

Fight analyst John Benz of Doghouse Boxing said Hatton is “a magnificent nightmare for any fighter” and that it will be no good for Pacquiao to underestimate him.

“Pacquiao needs to understand that Hatton is no punk. He's not an easy walk in the park,” Benz recently said in his article in Doghouse Boxing.

Although he conceded that it is not impossible for Pacquiao to beat the light welterweight champion, Benz said that “Pacquiao will need to be devoted and focused on the task at hand.”

“Pacquiao needs to get inside a locked vault with Roach and absorb everything needed to defeat Hatton. Whatever Roach tells Pacquiao... Pacquiao needs to do it,” Benz said.

He said the last thing the Filipino superstar needs in front of a fully conditioned Hatton is to be unprepared.

“He's the kind of dog you beat with a stick over and over to no avail,” said Benz as he describes Hatton. “He punches like Satan on Sunday, and knows how to kill the choir. He is pure unadulterated evil dancing under the banner of the Sweet Science.”

“To defeat Hatton, Pacquiao will need everything he has learned, but more importantly he will need Roach more than ever,” he added.

Pacquiao is scheduled to meet Hatton head on at the Battle of East and West at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on May 2.

At stake in the superfight is Hatton’s IBO and The Ring Magazine light welterweight titles.

Should Pacquiao win, he will be the first Asian to hold five titles in five different divisions. He has already won the WBC lightweight, WBC super featherweight, IBF super bantamweight, WBC flyweight titles.

If Hatton is successful with his clinches, he has a decent chance of beating Pacman by decision. If Pacman's sidesteps and quick feet carries him, Pacman will win. Can't wait to see this fight.
