Pacquiao unfazed by Solar contract row
Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao said he is not affected by the possibility of him being sued after he chose ABS-CBN to be his new media partner.
“Maluwag ang loob ko. May mga tao naman ako na nag-aasikaso ng mga bagay na yan,” Pacquiao told ABS-CBN News.
He also said, “Ako ang ginagawa ko ay mag-concentrate at focus sa fight ko at sana panoorin niyo fight ko at ipagdasal ako. Mapapanood niyo ang fight sa ABS-CBN versus Ricky Hatton."
“Laban ko, laban ng lahat. Maraming salamat sa inyo,” said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao has decided to rescind his contract with Solar Entertainment Corp. after it reportedy failed to "fulfill its obligation to pay stipulated fees for the subject rights.”
Solar, however, has claimed it will seek legal remedies in case of breach of contract by Pacquiao.
Trainer Freddie Roach said Pacquiao's "mental game is 100 percent there already. He knows how to fight this fight and he knows how to win.”
Even if Pacquiao was in his warm-up stage, he already showed immense hand and foot speed.
Roach planned only six rounds in the mitts but Pacquiao could not be stopped. “The Pacman” ended up doing ten rounds in the session.
Pacquiao also rarely took a break in between rounds.
Gym all to himself
Manny trains in the Wildcard Gym in Los, Angeles California for three hours a day.
In those three hours, the only sounds in the gym are his punches.
No other boxer is allowed to practice while Manny is training and only a few people are allowed to enter the gym.
This allows Pacquiao to fully concentrate on his training regimen.
Counter shot
Pacquiao’s coaching staff is working hard on Manny’s counter shot for Hatton’s renowned strong left hook.
Roach said that Pacquiao’s counter from the left or right could spell the end for “The Hitman.”
“We’re going for the chin and going for the knockout on that shot. That’s the money shot without a doubt,” bragged Roach.
Pacquiao added, “Talagang pinag-aralan yon... marami kaming strategy.”
Despite the intensity of his training, Manny is quick to follow everything that Roach teaches him.
“Ginagawa ko ang lahat ng aking makakakaya dahil excited ako sa fight ni Hatton. Kailangan kong maabot ang 100 percent para sa fight sa May 2,” shared Pacquiao.
Roach commented, “He was on fire today. So I let him go.”
“Unbelievable...he’s got great power. Manny is on top of his game right now. The last two fights were perfect . I expect another perfect third fight in this one. There is no one in the world right now who can touch Manny Pacquiao at this point,” Roach proudly said of the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter. With a report from Dyan Castillejo, ABS-CBN News
